Songimvelo is a magnificent game reserve it covers an area of 50,000 hectares, and as such is the largest provincial game reserve in South Africa. It borders on to the Kingdom of Swaziland. There are two riding options:
- Songimvelo Safari - a seven night safari, one night at the luxury Dawson's Lodge, five nights on a mobile safari (tented) in Songimvelo Game Reserve and finishing at Ebutsini, a traditional Swazi village, staying one in the Rondavels.
- Dawson Lodge Riding Safari: - During the hotter months the clients are based at the lodge and ride out on morning and afternoon rides.

| Costs: A typical safari cost for a week is in the region of £1365 per person per week. This would include seven nights accommodation, (one night at Dawson's Lodge, five nights on safari in tents and one night in a Swazi village). Excluded are International flights, any ground or air transfers, bar drinks at Dawson's Lodge, game drives, fishing or other guided activities. |
The horses: Are of various breeds but mainly thoroughbred cross: Boerperd and Boerperd/Quarterhorse cross; Anglo Arab and Hanover/Boerperd cross and they range between 15hh and 17hh. The tack is Australian or South African stock saddles.
There is a 16 stone weight limit for riders
